Bantrel Infrastructure will work in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer organization for a Subway Project in Toronto, Ontario.

The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by three key PPP Contractors and five advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors.

Bechtel form the key component of the overall leadership team, having delivery partner responsibilities supported by two other components, Technical Advisor (TA) and Program Controls Services Consultant (PCSC).

Job Description:


Bechtel Infrastructure, along with key sub-vendors Bantrel and Comtech, has been appointed as the Delivery Partner (DP) within an Integrated Project Team (IPT) comprising the customer, Metrolinx, and its Technical Advisor (TA) for the Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project.

The OLS Project scope includes the design build, operation, and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being delivered through major Public Private Partnership (P3) contracts and multiple Early and Advanced Works (EAW) contracts.

The OLS Project is planned to open for revenue service in 2031. The DP team forms a key part of the overall leadership of the OLS Project.


The Joint Corridor section of the Ontario Line Subway project includes worksites at Don Yard (470 Lake Shore Blvd) and within the Kingston Subdivision from Eastern Avenue to Gerrard Street.

The OLS has numerous Contractors working within the rail corridor during White Period, typically from 9pm until 6am, Monday to Friday.


The Field Specialist (Nights) for the Joint Corridor will be responsible for monitoring Contractor's performance, verifying installed quantities and producing detailed shift reports for works performed at night within the Metrolinx Rail Corridor.

The Field Specialist (Nights) takes direction from the appropriate Lead Field Specialist or Specialists and issues contemporaneous shift reports at the conclusion of each shift.


Responsibilities:


  • Monitors the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with project technical requirements.
  • Ensures that safety and creation as well as maintenance of a safe workplace and environment is the primary consideration and priority in the delivery of all work.
  • Responsible for daytoday project management functions, while also delivering on client expectations.
  • Reviews contractor's documentation including risk assessments, method statements and inspection and testing plans.
  • Attends necessary inspections of the works on behalf of Metrolinx; issues and tracks nonconformance reports as applicable
  • Interprets design engineering drawings
  • Verifies contractor's commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required.
  • Reviews field change notices/requests, extra work orders and back charge notices.
  • Implements project controls tools on the construction site.
  • Prepares and maintains daily reports.
  • Reviews updated contractor schedules, as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of construction means and methods, engineering and technical requirements, contracts administration and/or cost and scheduling relating to the construction of bridges and structures on major projects in Ontario or Canada
  • Experience working in the rail industry considered advantageous
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and databases
  • Awareness of environmental compliance laws and requirements.
  • Commitment to Bechtel's "Zero Accident" safety program.
  • Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 13 years of relevant work experience, or 57 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree
  • Work experience as a field engineer, engineer, or assistant superintendent
  • Experience on previous Metrolinx projects considered advantageous
  • Must hold a valid G class On
