What you will be doing

  • Acting as a project contact to answer questions, obtain and provide information to stakeholders within and outside the organization ensuring timely and accurate response. Acts as a liaison between departments, sets up and attends department meetings (taking minutes).
  • Drafting, editing, formatting, organizing, prioritizing, assembling, filing and/or distributing documentation and forms to avoid delays and ensures that reports and other documents are sent to customers before the established deadlines.
  • Providing assistance to the staff within the department by processing project correspondence.
  • Querying and preparing various reports in support of the department Project Manager and project staff. This includes retrieval and analysis of data.
  • Processing and performing data entry into a database or electronic filing system. Maintains hardcopy and softcopy filing systems.
  • Ensuring project information is accurate by opening, tracking and closing work orders; monitors expenses and revenues against budget. Prepares purchase requisitions and quotations.
  • Creating and updates schedules with actual progress and forecasted schedule dates. Evaluates project progress; prepares, executes and oversees implementation of improvement/action plans. Ensuring actions are being taken and reports on them to customers and/or branch supervisors.
  • Providing backup support to other project sections, or other roles within the same section.

What we are looking for:


  • Successful completion of secondary school (Grade 12) with 24 years of related experience or college diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Project Management) and one year experience.
  • Oral and written English communication skills are essential to write a variety of procedures, letters, and formal correspondences and to deal with internal and external client groups.
  • Knowledge of CNL procedures, processes and policies and best practices in Project Management
  • Knowledge of the correct usage, spelling and punctuations of English and experience in editing, reviewing, and handling large documents
  • Knowledge of office equipment such as printers, fax machines, photocopiers, and scanners.
  • Knowledge of CNL's business systems: Oracle, Management Financial Report Centre, TRAK, P6 Scheduling
  • Knowledge of project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project)
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly under mínimal supervision and establish priorities to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and organize projects.
  • That the incumbent be working towards Certified Assistant in Project Management (Certificate)
  • Knowledge of Project Management terminology
  • Understanding of basic financial/accounting practices in order to provide assistance pertaining to budget issues.

Security clearance eligibility required:

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.

Location of Work - On-Site

  • This role is based out of CNL's Chalk River, which will be the designated workplace. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
