The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is the largest basic medical science department within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

Responsibilities:


The Administrative Assistant is a key resource for all members of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology providing first point of contact for faculty, students, staff, and visitors.

Reporting to the Manager of Finance and Administration, and working closely with the Department Chair, the role oversees all aspects of the Chair's calendar, schedules meetings, prepares agendas and meeting materials, and provides administrative support to various departmental committees.

The role is also responsible for supporting the Manager and Chair with the coordination of various annual UWOFA processes, faculty recruitment, and special projects.

The role is responsible for coordinating the weekly seminar series, annual lectureship/research day, and departmental events and activities.

The role is also responsible for maintaining the department's social media presence, and the upkeep of the department's website, mailing lists, and Western directory.

In addition, the role is responsible for assisting other members of the administrative team as required, scheduling and maintaining department boardrooms, monitoring and ordering office supplies, maintaining office equipment, ordering catering services, and the distribution of mail and announcements.


Qualifications:


Education:


  • 2 year Community College Diploma in Business Management/Administration or related field

Experience:


  • 3 years of experience providing administrative support and customer service in a business office setting
  • Experience in an academic environment working with students and faculty members is preferred

  • Proven abilities in event planning, managing digital media, and written communication
