Your Opportunity
- Under the supervision of the Program Coordinators, the Camp OC Instructor is responsible to develop, maintain and deliver curriculum, learning materials and activities related to the teaching assignment, keeping it specific to the camp description. The instructor is also responsible to create a lesson plan and submit a supply list to the Camp OC admin staff.
- The Camp OC Instructor is also responsible for the camper's safety, while in their care, as well as informing the Camp OC Program Coordinator of any specific student related incidents that happen in the classroom.
Functions and Duties - 1. Provide teaching and other educational services to participants registered in Camp OC. 2. Ensure that participants understand and comply with the rules and policies governing the operation of Okanagan College as outlined in the Camp OC Instructor Manual and the OC Calendar 3. Prepare course materials, course outlines, lesson plans, instructional aids and supply list specific for Camp OC 4. Communicate with the Program Administrator/Coordinator on any issue related to student participation or course delivery. 5. Responsible for the safety, comfort and learning of children aged 618 years old, in accordance with Camp OC policies. 6. Perform other related duties as required.
Education and Experience - An undergraduate degree is preferred; however, applicants who have completed Grade 12 and possess an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience in their area of expertise may be considered.
- An Instructor's Diploma or valid BC Teacher's Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred.
- Over 2 years and up to and including 4 years teaching experience in an elementary and/or secondary school, working directly with elementary school children.
- Firstaid training is considered an asset.
- Clear current Criminal Record Check or be in good standing with the BC Teachers' Federation is required.
Skills and Abilities
- Able to work in a handson teaching/learning environment.
