In collaboration with the maintenance team and under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Millwright Lead Hand is responsible for leading a team of millwrights to perform regular maintenance duties and projects safely and successfully within the Toronto facility.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Communicate and delegate daily maintenance requirements according to team members' knowledge skills and capabilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyors, pumps, mixers and motor
  • Operate maintenance equipment (i.e. pipe threader, cut off saw, lathe, etc.)
  • Operate and inspect handheld equipment (such as torches, oxygen lances, pneumatic/power actuated tools and hand tools)
  • Read and interpret blueprints/drawings, produce rough sketches (abbreviations, symbols for machining/welding/assembly, tolerances)
  • Keep track of inventory of critical bearings, tools, accessories for daytoday operations.
  • Communicate with vendors where it relates to ordering small parts and tools, while keeping supervisor informed.
  • Always demonstrate good housekeeping practices to help maintain a safe work area
  • Clearly communicate completed tasks by means of producing a daily log (verbal/written/computerized)
  • The job is within a heavy industrial environment, and you may be required to work within various areas of the facility. The environmental conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet or noisy.
  • Ensure flawless safety adherence and practices.
  • Be a leader, guide and coach team members within the department in areas of safe work practices, use of appropriate PPE, environmental responsibilities and equipment repair.

Experience, Skills & Education:


  • Mechanic Millwright Certificate of Qualification (Interprovincial Red Seal).
  • CWB certificate of competency in Mig/Tig/ Oxy-Acetylene welding an asset.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor and lead a team.
  • Have a rigorous and positive attitude towards health and safety standards
  • Good communication skills, with team members, plant operations team, contractors.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and related best practices
  • Working with the notion of equipment criticality/priority
  • Openminded and focused on process improvement
  • Demonstrate autonomy

Salary Range:

$65,000 - $80,000
