Scope


The Demi Chef de Partie is responsible for the day-to-day operation of their designated station, acts as the first point of contact for Commis Chefs, and supports the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in managing the Kitchen.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare, season, and cook food to high standards following special dietary instructions where required
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Help in menu creation
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ensure that station opening and closing procedures are carried out to standard
  • Clean and maintain station and overall kitchen through practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Assist with ordering
  • Work within budgeted guidelines
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production procedures and codes
  • Assist with the enforcement of Health & Safety protocols
Physical Demands

  • Continuous standing for long periods of time
  • Frequent walking, bending
  • Frequent reaching above and below shoulder height
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 pounds / 10 kg
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds / 23 kg
  • Working in a hot, noisy, fastpaced environment

Qualifications:


  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Culinary degree and 2 years of cooking experience OR 5 years of cooking experience
  • Previous experience in a leadership role in the kitchen
  • Valid food handler certificate
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • High standards for quality and presentation
  • Selfmotivated
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
