Description

Under the direction of the Children's Services Supervisor, the Children's Services Worker is responsible for providing quality service to children in care.

The Children's Services Worker will ensure all Legislative, Ministry and Agency policies and procedures, and regulations respective to the Child in Care are met.

The Children's Services Worker will prepare plans of care with the goals of permanence and stability.

The Worker will work closely with Alternative Care and Customary Care parents, other care providers, Agency staff, community service agencies, and community professionals to ensure the needs of the child in care are met.


Knowledge Requirements

  • Knowledge of Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services programs and services
  • Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Anishnawbek culture,
- traditions and the Seven Grandfather Teachings

  • Knowledge of and a high level of clinical skills with respect to child development, family dynamics, child
- abuse and neglect

  • Knowledge of First Nation communities and structures
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act
  • Excellent computer skills and MS Office software

Other Requirements

  • Must provide a clear Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must provide a Class 'G' Ontario Driver's Licence, have access to a vehicle and have the ability to
- travel

  • Must have $1M auto insurance liability coverage
  • Must provide a threeyear uncertified Driver's Abstract

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor of Social Work Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field (minimum experience)
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience working with children and families


Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services is currently in the designation process to become a fully mandated Child Well-Being Agency to provide Prevention and Protection Services.
