Monday - Friday, Standard 38.75 hour work week. Occasional evening work will be required

Primary Care Network Wellness Centre at #4000, Avenue SE; Calgary, AB

Reports to Manager, Clinic Administration


Position Summary


The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) is the first point of contact for patients and is responsible for greeting and assisting them, booking appointments, managing incoming calls and multidisciplinary team schedules.

This position is key to smooth and efficient clinic operations and supports this by relaying information related to patient appointments, referrals, follow up tasks and data entry.


What Does the Role Do?- General administrative and clerical duties, including reception, operating a multiline phone system, and appointment booking/follow-up- Navigate patient phone calls and validate patient information- Process referrals and schedule appointments for patients- Distribute paperwork/screening tools to patients at time of appointment- Prepare private medical billing to patients and third party- Maintain patient records/files/EMR Complete office tasks such as copying, data entry, couriers and mail- Function as a preceptor and mentor for practicum placement students provided through learning institutions

  • Perform additional duties as required

Who Should Apply?

  • High School Diploma required
  • Medical Office Assistant or Administration certification required
  • Previous experience in a medical office environment within the last five years is preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Previous experience with medical billing and electronic medical records (EMR) preferred
  • Proficiency with Wolf and/or CHR EMR preferred

Working Conditions

  • Normal clinic environment and remote work
  • Occasional evening work will be required
  • Valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle as local travel is required
  • Two supervisory references required
  • Criminal background check required
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required
