Your Responsibilities
In your role, you will have the opportunity to take on a wide variety of tasks


Some examples are:

  • Providing technical and regulatory expertise (provincial, territorial, and federal) for projects that interact with marine environments.
  • Leading components of regulatory submissions related to the marine environment, including delegation of inputs, coordination of work streams, and authoring and/or overseeing the drafting of technical content.
  • Liaising with clients, regulatory agencies, and Indigenous peoples, including (but not limited to) preparing technical content for presentations, delivering technical information during meetings/presentations, responding to questions, and advising clients on path forward.
  • Leading or coordinating components of environmental assessments, information requests, etc. as they relate to the marine environment.
  • Designing and leading marine studies and preparing technical reports.
  • Providing mentoring/leadership for junior and intermediate staff, including constructive feedback.
  • Being a champion for safety and quality, every day.
  • Developing scopes of work and budgets for workplans and proposals related to marine components (e.g., baseline conditions fieldwork, aquatic effects assessments, and associated permitting).
  • Marketing Ausenco's full range of services to existing and potential clients through your work and participation in workshops, conferences, and other business development opportunities.

You are solutions-oriented and have the following skills:

  • A university degree in biology or a related field.
  • A professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio or P.Biol.) or eligibility for a designation.
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in marine biology.
  • Experience leading and conducting marine biology and/or ocean science programs.
  • Experience working with federal regulators on permits and authorizations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate complex ideas to audiences with varying levels of scientific literacy, including clients, regulators, community members and other interested stakeholders.
  • Ability to think independently and strategically, maintain a positive attitude, be selfmotivated and employ a strong work initiative.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fastpaced work environment.
  • Available to travel as required and sometimes on short notice for projects and other engagements (anticipated travel <10% of time).

Bonus Points
The following attributes may give you a competitive edge:

  • A master's degree in a relevant field.
  • SCUBA experience or commercial dive certification.
  • Experience collaborating with Indigenous peoples.
  • Experience with offsetting and habitat compensation in the marine environment.
  • Proficiency in R and/or other advanced statistical packages.
