Our café at 2902 Main Street is looking to build on our team of enthusiastic, highly skilled, experienced and hard-working baristas / supervisors.

SUMMARY
The Café Supervisor is a key member of the café operations team providing operational support to the Café Manager and acting as a shift lead for the team of baristas.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide exemplary service to all patrons of the cafe and ensure excellent product quality at all times, to direct team of baristas and open and close the cafe.
The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Welcoming customers, taking orders, making recommendations and processing transactions
- Communicating with the kitchen of special requirements
- Organizing stock
- Receiving deliveries
- Processing preorders through the POS system
- Preparing and serving specialty coffee drinks including espressobased beverages in line with 49th Parallel's standards
- Dialing in and tasting espresso and coffees to ensure product quality
- Assisting with newer staff and helping to train on incafé routines and barista skills
- Managing staff positions throughout the shift
- Holding keys and being responsible for the opening and closing of the café
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of experience in a hospitality / service environment
- 1 years of experience in a coffee focused position and experience of preparing specialty espresso based beverages
- 6 months experience as a Supervisor in a specialty coffee environment
- Exceptional knowledge of coffee flavour notes and the ability to demonstrate a good palate and dial in coffee and espresso efficiently
- Working knowledge of POS systems
- Experience of providing staff training is an asset
- Effective communicator
- VERY passionate about coffee
- Knowledge of specialty coffee, coffee trends and café operations
- Attention to detail, able to present digestible information effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively to achieve results
- Interest and desire to work in the specialty coffee industry
- Ability to build strong internal working relationships and be an effective communicator
- Have a "no job is too small" mentality: you roll up your sleeves, boldly jump in and get it done
- Positive outlook, and be able to effectively receive and communicate feedback

From $18.45 per hour
