COORDINATOR, PARKS CAPITAL ASSETS
The incumbent is primarily responsible for the preparation, coordination and administration of parks
capital, repair, and replacement projects, including assistance with procurement of maintenance and
repair contracts to be administered by Public Works staff. The incumbent produces technical reports,
specifications, budget estimates, condition assessments and procurement documents as they relate
to City parks and property infrastructure


Other responsibilities include:
overseeing the activities and
performance of contractors and consultants; providing technical support to City staff on park and
landscape related projects; and addressing resident questions and complaints related to assigned
projects.


Successful applicants will possess the following:

  • Successful completion of a University Degree in a related field.
  • Membership in the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects, Ontario Association of Certified
Engineering Technicians and Technologists, or Certified Engineering Technologist Certification
would be an asset.

  • Five years of combined, recent and relevant experience in the fields of general construction and/or
project management, preferably in a municipal environment.

  • Must have established skills and experience using PC equipment and related software
  • Familiarity with asset management and database software (VFA, Citywide) and digital drafting
software (AutoCAD) are an asset.

  • Welldeveloped organizational, analytical, customer service and communication (written and oral)
skills.

  • Welldeveloped conflict resolution, interpersonal and influencing skills to establish and maintain
business relationships with consultants, contractors, the general public and employees at all levels
of government.

  • Proven ability to work independently and reliably on assigned duties, prioritizing activities,
managing time and effectively resolving problems.

  • Proven competence and technical knowledge of various trades and systems involved with
construction, building technologies and related parks infrastructure. Awareness of sustainable
practices and technologies is an asset

  • Proven ability to provide direction to outside consultants and contractors.
  • Demonstrable ability to interpret technical plans.
  • Able to analyze construction budgets and estimates.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, AODA, standard CCDC construction
documents, standard consulting contracts, applicable laws and regulations, and construction
contract administration.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and Windows based software
  • Must be medically and physically fit to perform the duties of this position.
  • Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check as a condition of employment.
  • During employment there may be the requirement to drive a municipal vehicle, as such consent to
obtain a driver's abstract from the Ministry of Transportation is mandatory. Must possess a valid
Class "G" Ontario Drivers licence. A clean driving record is preferred.

Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, pension plan, and an annual salary
range of $81,335.80 to $90,381.20 based on 35 hours per week.
