DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To function as a receptionist, performing a wide variety of clerical duties including: maintaining patient charts; facilitating the admission/ discharge/transfer process; maintaining confidentiality of information; documenting and maintaining a variety of statistical information for the unit; transcribing doctor's orders; answering the telephone and taking accurate messages.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Office Administration Diploma and previous relevant experience in a hospital clerical or doctor's office setting or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
- Proven keyboarding skills of 30 wpm (tested);
- Basic level Word and Excel knowledge (tested);
- Knowledge of Meditech Admission module and Order Entry module;
- Previous experience transcribing doctors' orders;
- Proven effective organizational, prioritization, coordination and multitasking skills;
- Proven superior interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal);
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision and demonstrate initiative;
- Proven ability to work productively despite distractions and frequent interruptions;
- Proven ability to work in a stressful environment;

- Must have a satisfactory performance record;
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular inservice education in this area; and,
- Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
