The opportunity:


Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Human Resources (SVP), the Manager, Human Resources is responsible for partnering and collaborating with the SVP to create, develop, communicate and execute on strategic initiatives across the organization.


The Manager, Human Resources will also lead and develop a team to deliver various HR services and programs to drive business results.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Leadership
  • Leading and mentoring the Human Resources team, providing ongoing coaching and development while ensuring proper resourcing, delegation of key functions and daytoday people management.
  • Providing counsel and advice to leaders in areas related to company policies, employment standards and laws, performance and attendance issues, termination procedures, harassment issues, conflict issues, progressive discipline, employee development, and employee relations in a manner that supports a positive work environment.
  • Driving the performance management process to accurately assess talent, including facilitating performance management discussions with employees and managers and ensuring consistency, fairness, timelines and effectiveness of performance conversations and interventions to maximize performance.
  • Ensuring that managers and supervisors are developing appropriate action plans, including but not limited to career development plans, performance improvement plans, etc.
  • Leading HR functions including policy implementation, employee relations, compensation and benefits, onboarding and offboarding, HR programs and training with HR knowledge of legislation across various provinces.
  • Making recommendations to improve workflow efficiencies, employee engagement to align across various offices.
  • Supporting organizational change projects to drive engagement and develop Company culture.
  • HR Strategy
  • Partnering in the development of human resources strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Conducting research and analysis of organizational trends including review of metrics and data to create solutions to address specific needs.
  • Identifying organizational issues/areas of concern through analysis of general employee concerns and feedback including exit interview survey information.
  • Working closely with leadership team to provide feedback as well as recommendations for improvement.
  • Providing HR analytics to drive initiatives, decision making and provide recommendations for new/updated HR policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Postsecondary education in Human Resources, Bachelor's degree, Diploma or Certificate or in a field related to Human Resources Management, organizational studies, or business management/administration.
  • 8+ years of progressive human resource experience, with 3+ years' experience in an HR leadership position, leading and developing a team of HR professionals; or, will otherwise possess equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the wealth management or other regulated industry is an asset.
  • CPHR designation is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS systems, UKG preferred, ability to run reports and navigate system.
  • Fluent in payroll and benefit plans.
  • Proficient with MSOffice suite, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Excellent Leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity; highly adaptive and able to manage a large volume of competing priorities.
  • Strong critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of the many disciplines within HR, including diversity and inclusion, performance management, compensation and benefits, talent management, employee relations.
  • Good change management and project management capabilities.
  • Current knowledge of standards and legislation as they relate to human resource management.
  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to proactively organize and manage a
