About North End Community Health Centre
On behalf of the North End Community Health Centre (NECHC), Venor is recruiting for a People & Culture Advisor.

NECHC is a non-profit organization established 50 years ago in response to an absence of primary health care and other health services in Halifax's North End.

Its original advocates were three determined women who persuaded a team of Dalhousie Medical School physicians to establish the first-ever primary health clinic.

Located on Gottingen Street, we are in the heart of a unique and culturally diverse community.

Over the years, NECHC has grown to offer primary health care, pre and post‐natal care, dental services, nutrition, social work, Mobile Outreach Street Health (MOSH), Housing First, outreach, and advocacy in an environment in which people are treated with respect and dignity and where there is equitable access to services and programs.

With a collaborative care team of 75 staff members, they are viewed as a "beacon of hope" by residents in the community.

What You'll be Responsible For:

With this newly created position as the People & Culture Advisor, you will have the opportunity to support NECHC, in its commitment to people management, accountability, diversity, inclusion and a respectful workplace.

This will be done in collaboration with the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Advisor on designing and delivering the DEI employment strategies, policies and programs.

Reporting to the Director of HR & Administration, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of HR activities:
recruitment and retention, onboarding, training and development, policy development and administration, volunteer programs, employee relations.

This also includes assisting in the development of the overall HR strategy, implementing HR initiatives, policies, programs and practices that align with the overall company goals and Collective Agreement.

Analytical. Relationship-builder. Proactive. Resilient.
These words will describe your approach to work under the different facets of human resources in this role.

Building and fostering relationships with the management team, employees, partners and funders will be crucial to uphold the company culture and values, and be respected as a credible and trusted People & Culture Advisor.

You will be working closely with the Director of HR & Admin to increase talent development and retention through ongoing support and coaching for the leaders across the company.

You will ensure a seamless recruitment process including but not limited to:
offer letters, record checks, onboarding, employee integration and orientation, terminations, promotions and any IT needs. The recruitment process will also involve implementing thoughtful strategies to remove systemic barriers for all marginalized groups.
