Personal Response Associate


Nanaimo Lifeline is seeking a compassionate and tech-savvy individual to serve as a Personal Response Associate in our Response Centre.

Nanaimo Lifeline has been providing life-saving response services to at-risk people in central and North Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast since 1987.

Family caregivers, friends, and neighbours have peace of mind knowing a loved one has access to help 24 hours a day at the push of a button.

Some examples of the people and organizations we help are:


  • Seniors living independently but may be at risk for a fall
  • Medically atrisk people
  • Differentlyabled people
  • People requiring discreet alarm services
  • Health Care Units
Nanaimo Lifeline is a social enterprise which is owned and operated by the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation.

All monitoring in the regions we serve happens at our Nanaimo-based Response Centre; the only Lifeline Response Centre in Western Canada.

All proceeds generated by subscriptions to Nanaimo Lifeline in our region directly support healthcare in Central and North Vancouver Island, and we employ local, dedicated staff and volunteers.


Personal Response Associate:


As a Personal Response Associate, you will work in the Response Centre to provide compassionate and confident assistance over the phone to ~3500 clients on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Responding to personal help alarms as they happen for client emergencies, equipment testing, equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Creating work orders and performing data entry for new installations, returns, and equipment and battery replacements
  • Liaising with satellite locations and volunteers with regards to equipment set up, maintenance, and alarms

Required Abilities:


  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Intermediate level computer skills, including demonstrated experience and working knowledge of database systems and data entry
  • Must be able to calmly and quickly respond to potential emergency situations over the phone
  • Multitasking in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Preferred Abilities:


  • Experience using Microsoft programs including OneNote and Google Maps
  • Experience working in a call centre or response centre
  • Experience with troubleshooting technological issues with seniors over the phone

Hours:

The Response Centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Because of this, Nanaimo Lifeline has day, evening, and overnight shifts available during the week and on the weekends.

Work/life balance is very important to us and we do our best to ensure shifts are assigned to our employees with their preferences in mind, and are as consistent as possible.


Pay range:
$19 - $24/ hour


Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time

$19.00-$24.00 per hour
