    Description

    Advantage Energy Ltd. ("Advantage") is a proud Canadian energy company that recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary. Advantage is an intermediate producer with production of approximately 65,000 BOE/d from high-quality assets concentrated entirely in the Montney fairway, located west of Grande Prairie in Northwest Alberta. The Company has prided itself on being focused, innovative, and technology driven with a track record of execution and exceptional performance. Advantage's subsidiary, Entropy Inc. ("Entropy"), is a new clean-tech carbon capture and sequestration company with its first project underway at Advantage's Glacier Gas Plant and recently announced a strategic investment from the Canada Growth Fund.

    Advantage is actively seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. This position will report to the Controller and is a permanent, in-office, full-time position.

    The successful candidate will have the following experience and credentials:

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Complete the month-end accounting cycle and ensure all financial activities are captured and reported in accordance with Advantage's policies and IFRS.
    • Prepare a monthly reporting binder with all accounts reconciled to financial statements.
    • Assist in the preparation of the Advantage's quarterly financial statements and management discussion and analysis.
    • Assist in preparation of the Advantage's monthly accruals.
    • Provide variance analysis on selected financial information for management.
    • Assist with analysis on non-routine transactions and accounting policies.
    • Contribute to the continued improvement of processes and internal controls.
    • Contribute to the continued improvement of data analytics within the accounting group.
    • Coordinate directly with both internal and external auditors.
    • Performing other duties as frequently assigned.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    • Working towards or recently completed the CPA designation.
    • 2-4 years of experience working in a public accounting firm or within the oil & gas industry.
    • Some exposure to the oil and gas industry is required.
    • Exceptionally strong computer skills with advanced proficiency of MS Office.
    • Experience utilizing QBYTE is considered an asset.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship building skills to work with stakeholders across the company.
    • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
    • Motivated and able to contribute to the continued improvement of the team and provide input to assist with department innovation.
    • Adaptable, eager for continued career and educational development and the ability to embrace change while working in a fast-paced and highly energetic workplace.

    Job Type: Full-Time

    Schedule: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours/week

    Term: Permanent

    Location: Downtown Head Office – Calgary, AB (In-Office)
