Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst is a key member of a dynamic finance team responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the accounting, finance, and administrative functions of Temspec.

This role is responsible for obtaining and compiling financial and cost accounting information that will be used in financial reporting, job costing, budgets, forecasting and analysis of operating expenses.

The Financial Analyst will use Visual Manufacturing ERP program to maintain general ledger, perform inventory and bank reconciliations, and execute full accounting cycle from sub-ledger activity to financial statement reporting.

Core Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Director of Finance with the management of Visual Manufacturing (ERP system) data integrity and utilization through testing, modeling, and continuing education.
  • Perform monthend closing by ensuring accurate month end cut off, running costing utilities and reconciling Manufacturing Reports to Financial Reports and GL (Inventory, WIP, PO Accrual), reconciling GL to Subledger reports, preparing Bank and Balance Sheet accounts reconciliations.
  • Assist in the creation and management of annual budget, and subsequent tracking of actual results versus budget. Investigate significant variances as necessary.
  • Prepare monthend reports for management reviews and yearend documentation for external auditors.
  • Assist with the annual physical inventory count.
  • Perform inventory adjustments as and when required to correct errors or discrepancies.
  • Update weekly Cash Flow Forecast report.
  • Ensure confidential information is secured and complies with privacy legislation.

Other Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and file HST reporting to CRA and make necessary journal entries.
  • Work with production staff to analyze actual versus standard with respect to material costs and labour hours, and update material and labour cost estimates.
  • Work with the Director of Finance to analyze the gross profit performance of jobs.

Special Projects:


  • Opportunity to participate in special projects such as:
  • Assisting the Process Improvement Specialist in continuous improvement projects.
  • Assisting the Finance Director in ROI analysis for major projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Business or Commerce) and / or pursuing a professional accounting designation.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive work experience in a similar role; preferably with experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, Visual Manufacturing would be an advantage.
