Position Summary:


Reporting to the Executive Director of the Analysis, Planning, and Budget (APB) unit in the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), the Business Intelligence Analyst will support a team of senior analysts leading data modelling projects, reports, and business intelligence (BI) deliverables using Tableau.

Act as consultant for internal analysis projects. Undertake special projects and develop data sets to support analysis. Participate in a variety of requests for reports, analysis, and statistical information using a variety of specialized databases. Anticipate and respond to client needs, and independently and/or collaboratively drive issues to resolution. Builds relationships both across the university and with external contacts.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Visualize datasets and develop dashboards using Tableau.
  • Maintain, enhance, and/or troubleshoot vast and complex Tableau reports.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Tableau Server (e.g., granting permission, scheduling extract refreshes, assigning new licenses and onboarding new users, etc.)
  • Participate in BI projects, including responsibility for any or all aspects from conceptual phase through implementation and user training.
  • Collaborate with analysts and IT developers to design specifications for data models.
  • Coordinate and track adhoc requests and the delivery such requests in collaboration with the analysts.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • At least 1 year of professional experience as a Tableau Developer
  • Proficiency using advanced Tableau features, such as level of detail expressions (LOD), parameters, and rowlevel security (RLS).
  • Experience with Tableau Server.
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases, such as Oracle, Azure, PostgreSQL databases.
  • Analytical and curiositydriven approach to problem solving, ability to troubleshoot and follow through, ability to navigate and clarify ambiguous requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with business units as well as IT departments.
  • Experience with data ETL and integrating data from different sources and formats using Alteryx is considered as strong asset
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a PC environment using databases, spreadsheets, and statistical and data warehouse tools.
  • Advanced Excel.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a larger team.
  • Capacity to make independent decisions.

  • Undergraduate degree and three (3) years' related experience or Master's degree and 1 year related experience.
