Job Description:


Under the direction of the Manager of Facilities Development, the position provides technical support for the development, upgrading and maintenance of campus facilities records using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and hard copy records where required; these records have a direct influence on the Planning, development and Facility operational Engineering Maintenance Services (FOMES) teams as part of College facility Management Department.

The incumbent provides ongoing support throughout all phases of project delivery and database management in the following key areas:

  • Active Project Support;
  • Active Information Support;
  • Operations
  • Administration;
  • ON1Call Utility Locates;
  • Records Administration;
  • Professional Development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produces drawings in AutoCAD to assist in the preparation of schematic drawings e.g. floor plans for furniture and occupancy test fits
  • Provides the Planning team (by updating the Archibus system), Development team and consultants with up to date drawings for future design and tender preparation purposes for new projects.
  • Produces a variety of support documents e.g. flow charts and spreadsheets using various software options
  • Administers the ongoing archiving of drawings, construction documents, project files and other facilitiesrelated records and verifies the content of each file against a project document closeout list, and ensures that all project documents are collected from Project Managers, consultant team, CM, and GC's and filed and checks contractor submitted asbuilt drawings for accuracy.
  • Provides backup for the Facilities Information Management Officer to evaluate request details through a referenced or "ticket number" in the online system of the On1Call. utility locates system.
  • The position provides support to the Facilities Development Manager from time to time with respect to producing process flow charts required to support initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Three (3) year diploma or degree in Architectural Technology Technician / Technologist or equivalent (eg. Interior Design Degree or Engineering Technology Diploma);
  • Minimum of three (3) years practical experience working with AutoCAD and Facilities records software along with experience in a construction or architectural environment;
  • Good knowledge and skills with the following software: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Archibus;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi task;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure;
  • Ability to provide quick, efficient, courteous and tactful service;
  • Ability to lift bankers boxes full of records.
