    About this opportunity:

    The Field Technical Lead is responsible for leading a team of field engineers, field technologists, and field drafts-people, ensuring the efficient management of field technical department. This role involves a combination of hands-on technical work, project management, and leadership to achieve organizational goals.

    Work Environment:

    • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 8 days on 6 days off, 12 hours per day, last day is 8 hours , Wednesday to Wednesday
    • Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities
    • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations
    • Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton

    What you'll do:

    Manage, mentor, and support the field technical team in the following capacities:

    Safety:

    • Active participation in Cenovus' work performance culture of safe work, safe work leadership.
    • Support applicable safety training requirements for the technical group.

    Technical:

    • reviewing, understanding, and implementing design models, drawings, specifications, and standards for the purpose of construction,
    • development and issue of construction work packages,
    • development and implementation of construction score cards (quantities and man hours),
    • evaluation of contractor estimates,
    • management of contractor requests for information (RFI).
    • troubleshooting constructability issues
    • provide constructability support to construction supervision
    • drafting and proposal of field -based design changes / modifications.

    Change Management

    • Adherence to and support of the PEP / CEP change management requirements and procedures.
    • Execution of change management with respect to design scope and constructability.
    • Communication of change requests to Construction Coordination Project Engineering and EP.

    Communication- With project team groups including:

    • engineering / design,
    • project engineering,
    • construction coordinators,
    • construction supervisors,
    • planners / schedulers,
    • contracts and procurement,
    • quality assurance,
    • safety,
    • warehousing.

    Continues Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
    • Implement and promote best practices within the field technical team.
    • Encourage a culture of continuous learning and skill development.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Manage and support embedded engineering and design contractors from the EP companies.
    • Manage EP representative site visits when field work is required.
    • Monitor regular contractor progress and project progress through the use of quantity install scorecards and communication with construction supervisors
    • Understand the CCMT short term and long -term goals, commitments, requirements and be able to align action with those goals.

    Who you are:

    • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
    • H2S Alive
    • First Aid
    • WHMIS
    • TDG
    • SEFSAM
    • PEIMS
    • CET or P.Eng. designation preferred.
    • 10+ years trade or technical related experience.

    As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments

    For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate
