Reporting to the Director, Corporate Events and Community Investment, the Manager, Corporate Events leads the creation and execution of in-person, virtual and hybrid Canada Post events.

The Manager plans and oversees the implementation of events of all sizes and ensures operations are tailored to different audiences, communities and venues.

In collaboration with Canada Post's in-house communication and marketing teams, along with external partners, the Manager creates and ensures the successful delivery of CEO and executive town halls, conferences, award ceremonies, community events, stamp launches, employee events, Canada Post's Annual Public Meeting, and other Canada Post events.


Responsibilities:

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, Corporate Events.


  • Develops, implements and manages Canada Post internal and external corporate events, including meetings, conferences and launch activities. Collaborates with the Communications team to ensure the successful delivery of events.
  • Plans and executes in-person and virtual meetings and events. Leads the organization and management of all event logistics and operational processes. Develops project plans, critical paths, work back schedules and executive briefings for all events.
  • Works closely with internal and external partners to elevate the event experience, such as audio-visual, catering, writing services, graphics, printing services, translation, talent and speaker sourcing, etc.
  • Provides up-to-the-minute technical expertise in the staging of live events, including scripts, show flows and scenarios, as well as the management of technical staff for sound, lighting, audio-visual and multimedia elements.
  • Manages and produces detailed estimates and project budgets for contracted services. Oversees the development and production of project collateral.

  • Develops and oversees the distribution of event invitations, guest lists and seating charts, registrations, direct mail pieces, pre
- and post-event surveys.


  • Identifies appropriate national and international government protocol at corporate events and provides advice and counsel to participants on protocol and etiquette.
  • Evaluates project and program results and effectiveness. Makes recommendations for future activities and programs.
  • Works with vendors to define and negotiate contract requirements for all assigned events. Manages the event budget, contracted costs and payments to the vendors.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Postsecondary degree in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in event management or relevant functional experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience managing people.
  • Experience delivering virtual events is an asset.
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience in team building and leadership. Strong team player with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate across large and diverse teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decisionmaking skills with proven abilities in problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing timelines and priorities. Ability to react calmly in highpressure situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Excellent budgeting and negotiation skills.
  • Proven track record in corporate communications or a related field and experience leading large files and/or major projects.
