- 5+ years practicing corporate tax law in a law firm or corporate legal department
- Bachelor or Juris Doctor degree —in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Thorough understanding of Canadian tax and corporate taxation laws
- Effective communication skills to articulate complex tax concepts
- Proven record in strategic tax advice and innovative planning
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and meet deadlines
- Advise clients on tax issues: corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions (M&As), international tax, transfer pricing, and planning.
- Research tax laws, assess implications, develop strategies, and assess clients.
- Draft tax docs: tax opinions, memoranda agreements, returns.
- Collaborate to address tax concerns with lawyers, accountants, and advisors.
- Represent clients in tax audits, appeals, and resolution negotiations.
- Train junior lawyers, support staff on tax matters, and foster professional growth.
