We are hiring a full time, permanent
Project Manager position in EPCOR's Electricity Operations working out of Edmonton, AB.

We are looking to add a motivated and collaborative professional to join our Project Management team.

As the Project Manager, you are accountable for managing annual system service, system renewal and third-party projects and programs to fulfill Electricity Operations' franchise requirements and agreements and to enhance system reliability and safety.

This includes developing accurate project budgets; obtaining approvals from stakeholders and governing bodies; assigning resources based on priorities; monitoring, controlling and reporting project progress, spending and quality; and interacting with internal and external stakeholders to proactively identify and resolve issues.

This position may be eligible for EPCOR's hybrid work program.


What you'd be responsible for:


  • Planning, overseeing and leading capital projects from initiation to completion.
  • Completing annual budgets, financial and regulatory project close out, project capitalization, and post implementation reports.
  • Ensuring the delivery of complete, accurate, on time, and constructible work order packages by setting appropriate IFC target dates, arranging design walkthroughs on large scale or complex projects to ensure constructability.
  • Leading design and construction meetings, and completing thorough reviews of packages prior to issuing them for construction.
  • Evaluating and appointing external contractors and consultants to support project execution in compliance with EPCOR's procurement, regulatory, HSE and legal requirements.
  • Attending worksites to evaluate completion of work, schedule progression and adherence to project quality and safety standards.
  • Making timely adjustments using sound project management principles to ensure overall targets are achieved or exceeded, as required.
  • Collaborating with the project scheduler and work coordinators for required resource allocation.
  • Monitoring project costs against the budget and maintaining an accurate estimate at completion for financial forecasts.
  • Analyzing project financial and schedules to address potential problems and communicates progress and status as required.

What's required to be successful:


  • Engineering degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Professional Licensee (PL Eng.).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a civil construction or electrical utility environment and/or with regulatory bodies would be an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of foundation Project Management processes and procedures aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge.
  • Must be able to plan and organize; develop schedules and budgets; and meet quality, safety and contractor management requirements.
  • Experience managing complex budgets and schedules relative to this area of responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, IVARA, Oracle, P6, Power BI and other work management tools, such as MS Project.
  • Work effectively as part of a larger team within a dynamic environment.
  • Communicate technical or complex issues in a clear and succinct way.
  • Make informed decisions using quick analysis and sound judgement.
  • Use interpersonal skills to deal with issues, listen to others and provide feedback.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration among a diverse stakeholder group.
  • Resolve issues when faced with complex technical problems, ambiguous processes or competing priorities.
