    Description

    Role

    Reporting to the Field Area Manager, the role of SCADA Technologist is to work as a commissioner and a programmer specializing in all aspects of Protection and Control commissioning duties. The SCADA Technologist is responsible for specification, configuration and commissioning of SCADA systems. The position is based in the field and requires a valid driver's license and extensive travel to different sites.

    Responsibilities

    • Test all aspects of SCADA interface system, status, control and analogs
    • Read and interpret electrical diagrams for the purpose of installation and troubleshooting
    • Design and configure complete SCADA systems from the RTU's to the Host
    • Program various types of Remote Terminal Units (RTU) using Config Pro. as well as data concentrator programming
    • Program HMIs and other network interfaces as necessary
    • Commission, test and troubleshoot system elements remotely and on-site, as required
    • Prepare documents and specifications to track and support new components (protective relays and meters) added to the SCADA system
    • Developing and Update the data for the SCADA system
    • Recognize and troubleshoot data and connectivity issues and create reports as required
    • Provide training on SCADA systems to employees as needed
    • Lead the design, installation, and maintenance of communication equipment and SCADA systems

    Requirements

    • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution or Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Experience in substation would be a major asset
    • Be familiar with all apparatus found in a HV substation
    • Past experience with testing software will be beneficial
    • Be competent and comfortable working with computers and spreadsheets.
    • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in the workplace.
    • Must have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and have a valid Class 5 driver's license.
    • Able to work comfortably at heights
    • Able to work alone or with minimal supervision
    • Willing to work out of town and on rotation, ie. 4 days on 3 days off work schedule
