The Manager, Development Data is responsible for donor/partner information management, including data input and extraction, gift processing, and financial reporting. They will serve as the primary source of donor/partner information, being particularly mindful of maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of all donor/partner data.

    What you will do:

  • Manage Tessitura including ensuring the accuracy, integrity and privacy of the database as well as training for the Development staff
  • Ensure gift processing and receipting is accurate and meets all legal requirements set by Canada Revenue Agency
  • Process donations and ensure tax receipts and acknowledgment letters are done in a timely manner
  • Set up and maintain development campaigns, funds, and appeals to track donor/partner cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure online and gate donation processes meet the needs of the WI/CZ
  • Create and update policies and procedures manuals for gift processing and database administration as appropriate
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of donor information at all times
  • Create mailing lists for solicitations, invitations, special events, and annual reports
  • Report and monitor key financial and performance metrics of the Development department
  • Manage current subscriptions and identify new sources of technology, resources and practices to assist the Development team
  • Provide technical leadership for staff with respect to Tessitura and other programs
  • Recommend best practices to internal teams including fundraising, fund disbursement to external organizations, and confidentiality
  • Directly supervise staff responsible for the various Development Data functions.
  • What you will bring:

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in database administration and data management required
  • Diploma in Database Administration is preferred
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role is highly preferred
  • Extensive working knowledge of donor databases
  • Good understanding of the fund development process
  • Expert knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency regulations and Charitable Revenue Act guidelines
  • Knowledge of privacy legislation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Expert knowledge in a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate professionally, effectively and discreetly with colleagues, donors, volunteers and other zoo staff.
  • Working Conditions:

  • Sitting at a desk, using a personal computer for long periods of time.
  • On grounds mobility.
  • Flexible work hours, which may occasionally include evenings and weekends
  • The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
