What you'll be doing


Autism Nova Scotia is seeking a passionate, committed professional to join its Employment Department out of the Truro Chapter to support the delivery of two initiatives - Ready, Willing & Able and Employment _Works _.

Ready, Willing & Able


Autism Nova Scotia in partnership with the Autism Alliance of Canada (AAC) and Inclusion Canada is delivering a labour market initiative called, Ready, Willing and Able (RWA).

The RWA initiative is designed to build and increase employer capacity and demand to hire autistic job seekers or job seekers with an intellectual disability; conduct outreach to and provide supports service navigation to job seekers with an intellectual disability or autism; link employers with employment agencies and supports; and promote the value of increased employment of people with an intellectual disability or autism.


The LMF will be the focal point to facilitate this increased employer demand and create the bridging necessary between employment service agencies and employers.

This position is the link between job seekers, businesses, community employment agencies, autism and intellectual disability support organizations, and community.

Building relationships within relevant stakeholders is a critical role of the position in achieving the overall outcome of the initiative, which is to create meaningful and equitable employment opportunities for job seekers with an intellectual disability or autism.

Employment _Works _


Employment _Works _is a program, delivered in partnership with The Sinneave Family Foundation, that offers employment preparedness training and support, combined with job sampling and hands-on experience, to autistic adults / adults on the autism spectrum.

The program is designed for individuals who want to enter or return to the workforce, and who are willing to develop and practice the skills needed to support employment success.

General Duties:


  • Provides direct support to participants in the Employment _Works _program;
  • Facilitates the development of skills with autistic teens and adults / teens and adults on the autism spectrum participating in the Employment _Works _program;
  • Accurately collects participant goal data and program outcome data;
  • Monitors and track participant progress;
  • Assist with preparation, planning, and implementation of the program to enhance participant employability skills;
  • Recruits and engages with community partners for work placement opportunities and build community capacity;
  • Collaborates with local community employment agencies and service providers;
  • Coordinate access to Autism NS programs and communitybased employment opportunities;
  • Consults, daily, with team members to assure exceptional program delivery;
  • Develop and/or expand partnerships with community employment agencies to ensure equitable access to hiring demand by both persons with an intellectual disability and persons on the autism spectrum;
  • Conduct employer outreach and engagement;
  • Link hiring demand to qualified talent pool and build community capacity to support autistic job seekers or job seekers with an intellectual disability;
  • Build employer capacity and confidence to hire inclusively;
  • Liaise and maintain working relationship with other LMFs in designated geographical regions of the project;
  • Accurately collect data using ShareVision (Case Management System) and other systems to track
