PROGRAM MANAGER POSITION

Fairy Glen Day Care Centre is a non-profit organization accountable for the delivery of quality early learning and childcare programs to children from Infant to 12 years of age. The childcare centres are located in publicly funded Durham District School Board and Durham Catholic District School Board school buildings. Currently Fairy Glen operates 8 locations, with an expansion and new build in late 2024.

Fairy Glen Day Care Centre is currently recruiting for a Program Manager.


The Position


The Program Manager, under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple childcare centres in support of the organization's philosophy, quality assurance, and standards, which uphold the vision of the organization.


Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Education
  • 5 years' experience as a childcare supervisor (preferable in a multisite agency)
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • All regulatory employment requirements such as: Standard First Aid/CPR (C), Food Handler's Safety Training, 2 Step TB test, WHMIS, Health & Safety Training, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Training
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle for the purpose of business travel
  • Sound knowledge of CCEYA, DROC, HDLH, ELECT
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with parents, children, colleagues, and external agencies both verbally and written
  • Sound knowledge of Early Learning and Pedagogy
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problemsolving skills
  • Enthusiastic, positive, solutionbased
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Child Care Pro considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

Program / Leadership

  • Conduct regular ongoing centre visits to build rapport, assess quality, mentor, and support educators
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate centre Supervisors and frontline staff to:
  • Develop individual goals to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Maintain a wellorganized, safe, and clean childcare facility including playrooms, playgrounds, washrooms, hallways, and equipment.
  • Implement How Does Learning Happen as the foundation for learning and our program.
  • Ensure students and volunteers receive orientation, appropriate training, and supervision.
  • Guide and support educators to ensure that CCEYA and DROC requirements are met, as well as all other regulatory requirements
  • Foster and sustain excellent working relationships with members of the school community
  • Develop centre policies and procedures.
  • Implement policies and procedures within the centre.
  • Ensure that risk management strategies are in place to ensure the health and safety of the children, staff, parents, and all visitors to the centre.
Financial Management

  • Have knowledge and understanding of parent fees and assist the site Supervisors in follow up on any outstanding fees diligently and with respect, as well as maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the centre budget for supplies, food, equipment, and repairs.
  • Report any financial variances or concerns to the Director.
  • Provide financial review of each program.
  • Participate actively in the annual budget for all sites
Human Resources

  • Monitor the site Supervisors' performance and provide feedback on an ongoing basis, including involvement in yearly performance appraisals to the Executive Director.
  • Identify training needs and career development for all staff.
  • Ensure appropriate internal procedures are in place to promote positive communication and teamwork.
  • Support the Supervisors within the centre ensuring that job duties are fulfilled, and staff are informed of their responsibilities in a manner that is both positive and complies with the centre's policies.
  • Ensure Supervisors are kept abreast of all policies and procedures, organizational issues, etc. through ongoing communication (staff meetings, postings, logbook, etc.).
  • Ensure staffing levels are adequate and meet CCEYA and centre policies.
Administration

  • Work in conjunction with the Executive Director and the Administrative Services Manager to update, revise, and implement all new documentation, forms, etc.
  • Work in conjunction with the Executive Director and the Administrative Services Manager to create newsletters and parent correspondence
  • Maintain all records (staff files, client files, current policies, financial records, regulatory documents, etc.) in an organized and accurate manner.
Communication

  • Address concerns and complaints
