Post-secondary degree/diploma/certificate in Disability Case Management, Human Resources or related field

Three years' experience in managing Work Disability Prevention, stay at work and return to work best programs

Two years current related work experience in a large unionized environment.

Knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreements, human rights legislation, and information and privacy legislation

Experience using a HR information systems (HRIS); familiarity with Atrieve an asset

A combination of education and experience may be considered

Experience working in the K-12 education or public sector is an asset

Valid British Columbia driver's licence and transportation to be present at all District location

Position Summary


As a member of the Human Resources team, reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness, the Attendance Support and Wellness Coordinator will work in a team setting and collaborate with Principals/Vice-Principals, managers and employee representatives to support employee wellbeing during absences from work.

This position plays an integral role in the development and implementation of the District's Employee Attendance Support and Wellness Program (EASWP).

In addition, the role will support employees who are off-work due to medical reasons and coordinate return to work plans with all relevant stakeholders.


Responsibilities:


Develops and implements an EAWSP with an emphasis on: a data-informed process to support constructive communications with individual employees regarding attendance performance; supporting staff in need; and organizational awareness regarding attendance issues.


Advises and supports HR staff and District leadership with regard to administering EAWSP activities, including offering support, conducting meetings and other follow-up activities to bolster employee wellness and attendance.


Analyzes complex cases and develops customized case plans; documents case activity and decisions within the electronic case management system in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner to achieve desired case outcomes and mitigate disability costs.


Develops timely and progressive Graduated Return to Work (GRTW) plans and modified return to work offers in conjunction with limitations and restrictions from medical assessments and available alternative work duties.


Implements GRTW plans in a timely and supportive manner in collaboration with all stakeholders including: Principals/Vice-Principals, managers, and external partners such as union representatives and insurers.

Provides expert disability case and claims management guidance including interpretation advice on collective agreement provisions and terms and conditions regarding short-term illness and long-term disability, in keeping with program objectives and best practices

Advises managers, human resources staff, unions and employees when further evide
