- Bachelor's Degree in business or similar discipline, with a minimum of five years of experience in mortgage underwriting for both residential and commercial mortgages; or, a combination of training and experience in a previous underwriting role.
- Experience in alternative lending is considered an asset, as well as negotiation and sales skills.

Underwriter (Halifax, Nova Scotia)
Reporting to the Director, Alternative Lending, the Underwriter is responsible for leading the underwriting of residential and commercial financing to drive portfolio growth for GBC through operational and service excellence. This position is accountable for underwriting applications submitted by clients and industry partners, including mortgage brokers; determining credit worthiness of applicants based on the lending criteria, risk framework, manage exceptions and pricing; and, building and retaining a strong relationship with key referral points, including brokers, banking institutions, legal and accounting firms, contractors and developers.
