Job Summary


The R&D Chemist is a pivotal team member for assigned New Product Development projects, to establish safe, cost competitive and robust processes suitable for transfer to Production.

Undertakes effective planning and execution of project experimentation and the evaluation of the corresponding results. Collaborates with other project members to ensure project timelines are adhered to.


Responsibilities:

Responsible based on the phase of development, to efficiently undertake work supporting the following activities meeting the agreed upon timelines:

  • Identification and prioritization of potential routes of synthesis to any new development project target and then experimentally evaluate the highest priority routes, ultimately leading to proposing the commercial route.
  • Suitability and stability testing of any novel liquid forms identified to support subsequent development.
  • Select the optimum reaction conditions
  • Conduct robustness studies, including as appropriate utilizing Design of Experiments methodology ahead of process transfer to Production.
  • Identification of impurities in starting materials, intermediates and final product and establish methods to minimize their formation and methods to assist with their purge.
  • Prepare samples and/or standards of any significant impurities to support analytical method development and validation. Conduct fate and impurity purging studies that will be used to support specification setting activities and to provide information used in the Process Development Report.
  • Support technology transfer activities, working with the Technology Transfer team and Technology Transfer Coordinator to ensure that high quality Technology Transfer Communications are provided to the Technology Operations Group in a timely manner to support preparations for process implementation.
  • Ensure that all project information (patents, reports, schemes, flow diagrams, etc.) are filed in the project files in webtop.
  • Develops an appreciation for the principles of cGMP and to conform with all relevant departmental safety requirements and other company standard operating procedures.
  • Completes all reports and documentation associated with assigned projects as directed.
  • Executes problem solving on assigned projects.
  • Keeps the project leader of assigned projects uptodate on experimental results.
  • Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements & Education

  • Minimum BSc; Preference for MSc or PhD from a recognized academic institution
  • Prior Knowledge, Skills and Abilities in
    Personal Care & Household Products:
  • Effective interpersonal skills. Fosters strong relationships with other departments to ensure a co-operative, mutually respective environment resulting in rapid resolution of problems and achievement of goals.
  • Proven track record in conducting scientific research.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • The willingness to upgrade knowledge/education as required

Education Experience

  • No experience required with PhD, or
  • 4 years related experience with a MSc, or
  • 7 years related experience with a BSc

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 20 per week


Salary:
$60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
