JOB SUMMARY:


The Transportation Data Collection & Analytics unit is responsible for the implementation of Traffic Safety and Mobility systems for public enquiry and data management; plans, drafts and implements amendments to Traffic and Parking By-laws; and ensures the availability of information and statistics.


You support the Transportation Data Collection Program by validating, importing, disseminating and troubleshooting all collected data, including but not limited to the following: collision, speed, volume and classifation.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of 1 year community college certificate in computer science or engineering related field

Minimum of 2 years of related experience in data administration, including experience in the transportation field


Desirable Qualifications:
Successful completion of Ontario Traffic Conference's Traffic Training Course is desired or willingness to complete


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of the City's road network
  • Knowledge of Traffic Engineering Software (TES)
  • Knowledge of data processing and data management concepts
  • Knowledge of automated data collection device specific software: Houston radar stat analyzer, Highway data management, Traxpro, Miovision data upload and data link
  • Data processing with emphasis in the areas of data validation and analysis, as well as data keying
  • Traffic and Parking Bylaw, Highway Traffic Act of Ontario and Canadian Criminal Code
  • Knowledge of google maps, geo Ottawa and occasional ArcGIS mapping tools
  • Ontario Traffic Manual Book
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, MS Access and Outlook
  • City and department policy and procedures
  • M.F.I.P.P.A (Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act)
  • Must possess the training, experience and knowledge to organize the work and its performance
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
