ERCCA Day Home Consultant and Child Care Educator


ERCCA is excited to expand our role in the community and employ a day home consultant.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The day home consultant is responsible for recruitment of Family Day Homes, training and supporting, monitoring of family day home educators and support registration process of new families into a family day home program.

Ensuring Provincial guidelines are followed as well as ERCCA standards.


Minimum Qualifications:
Post secondary or equivalent, and certified as a Level III Child Care Educator

Previous experience as a day home provider or consultant is an asset.


Hours of work:

Monday to Friday 10-6pm, initially the position would share their time between the role of consultant and child care educator.

Working 10-2 as a day home consultant and 3-6pm in a OSC child care program.


Wage:
Level III $18.10-$18.87 with eligibility for Government of AB wage top up


Qualifications and Requirements:


Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

  • Child Development Supervisor (Level 3)
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid
  • Child Welfare & Police Security Clearance including vulnerable sector search
  • Reliable transportation to travel between day home and child care sites.
  • WHMIS
  • Fire Extinguisher Certification
  • ASaP Model 1& 2 Training
  • Province of AB Day Home Portal Training
  • TimeSavr Training

Recruitment & On Boarding:

Assist in the recruitment of day home educators
- provide screening of all new day homes educators;
- conduct initial interviews with educators and members of the household;
- complete all inspections related to approve the space;
- upload all information into the Provide of AB Day Home portal.


Consulting:

Conduct at minimum monthly monitoring visits of all approved Family Day Homes to ensure all standards are being met and that children are being provided with a safe and secure environment;
Support the educator should they have challenging family situations, providing guidance or even being present in the program for the educator to be able to speak to the family;
Document visits, conversations to include observations of the children as well as the interactions of the Educator and the children;
Works closely with ASaP Coach to provide them access to the educator and provide guidance and support related to ASaP tools and resources;

Administration
Utilize the Province of AB Day Home Portal for all communication, documentation to Provincial Licensing;
Manage all information as it relates to TimeSavr;
Become fluent in the day home communication portal


Communication
Able to build positive relationships with the Day Home Educator, Director, and the local community

Able to determine critical issues and bring them to the attention of the Director.

Able to provide New Educator Orientation

Able to communicate the key points of the ASaP Pyramid Model to educators.


Acts as a positive role model: uses good judgement, discretion, and professionalism in the sharing of information regarding the program, children, families, and the educators.


ROUTINE RESPONSIBILIES
Ensures compliance with all Day Home Standards and Health Regulations

Maintains files on all children ensuring database is up to date: with all required documentation; ensuring confidentiality is kept.

Summary of Responsibilities for child care educator working 3-6pm

Key Responsibilities:


PROGRAM DELIVERY
Work with child care team in implementing programming.

Create a program which is reflective of the values and goals of the Flight Framework.

Communicate with families regarding program activities and expectations.

Communicate all pertinent information to other educators regarding program needs or requirements.

Perform any other duties as assigned by ASaP Team, Assistant Director, Director or Executive Director. Be aware of and engage in a way which is aligned with the ERCCA Code of Ethics


WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Closely supervise children at all times.

Maintain child/educator ratios at all time

Create and maintain positive relationships with children and their families.

Encourage children to foster independence and to be responsible for themselves and their actions.

Model appropriate behaviours.

Guide children's behaviour according to the Behaviour Guidance Policy.

Encourage the development of healthy self-esteem.

Following the principles of the pyramid model of Social/Emotional Development, use the skills and tools to help children develop.


HEALTH & SAFETY
Maintain a safe and healthy environment for the children by following the Health and Safely Policy.
