Tax Associate, International Tax (hybrid which includes working in-office one day per week and the remainder of the week is remote)
At Clearhouse LLP, Tax Associates, work with businesses in various industries. They develop strong working relationships with clients and develop an understanding of their businesses and challenges. The Associates are primarily focused on various engagements.


Responsibilities

  • Participation for U.S. and combined U.S.Canadian individual income tax return preparation for U.S. citizens living in Canada, U.S. residents working in Canada and Canadians working and investing in the U.S.
  • Assist in carrying out crossborder income tax planning and engagement.
  • Deliver industry and technical expertise relating to Canadian and U.S. individual income tax, social security and international tax treaties through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and highquality deliverables.
  • Advise on Canadian and U.S. individual income tax policy and tax changes.
  • Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions.
  • Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address client tax compliance issues.
  • Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights.
  • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality, and deadlines.
  • Be part of the engagement teams, developing effective relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities.
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred)
  • Completion of a CPA designation; working towards relevant practical experience requirements will also be considered.
  • 1 year of relevant public accounting or tax experience
  • Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. individual and income tax
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software.

Salary:
$55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
