Our 10 resident suites offer warm and inviting spaces where friends and family can gather and spend meaningful time in the last hours, days, or weeks of their loved ones' lives.

Hospice provides wrap-around care for the palliative individual and their family, supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.


The compassionate, patient-centred care that Hospice provides is made possible by a multidisciplinary team of nurses, personal support workers, counselors, spiritual care providers, housekeeping staff, and a chef, supported by a group of loyal and empathetic volunteers.


Let's Talk About the Role


In this temporary, full time role you will be responsible for a variety of programs and services designed to promote a person-centred, seamless approach to care.

You will support the Psychological, Spiritual, Social, Practical, End of Life Care/Death Management and Loss and Grief Domains of Care of individuals and their loved ones throughout the Palliative Care - Chronic Disease Continuum, including bereavement.

In this position, you will serve our community clients and provide spiritual support to the London Middlesex Palliative Care Outreach Team (PCOT).


  • Completes spiritual care assessments and identifies, guides and facilitates the spiritual support and/or interventions for the unique spiritual needs of individuals in our community programs as well as the London-Middlesex Palliative Care Outreach Teams (PCOTs), and their identified circle of care.
  • Builds strong relationships with various faith leaders to optimally address the diverse faith, cultural and spiritual needs of those we serve, communicating and facilitating connections with established Client faith supports, as appropriate.
  • In collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary team, provides input into the direction of spiritual and supportive care programming to meet the diverse needs of those we serve.
  • Adheres to the theoretical framework for spiritual and supportive care service provision.
  • Ensures services are: reflective of the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph's Hospice, and in alignment with our Strategic Plan; and evidenceinformed and delivered in an effective and equitable manner.

We are looking for someone who is empathetic, caring, compassionate and passionate about assisting clients and their loved ones on their palliative journey.

If this sounds like you, check out the other requirements to be successful in this role:


  • Master's Degree in Counselling, Social Works or M.Ed
  • University degree in Religious, Theological or Pastoral studies is preferred
  • Registration and in good standing with a Regulated Professional College in Ontario is preferred
  • Member of Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) is preferred
  • Certificate in Grief and Bereavement or Thanatology from a recognized postsecondary institution is preferred
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and possess reliable personal transportation and be approved by insurance carrier to drive personal vehicle
