  • In this role, you will: _
  • Be responsible for the occupational Health & Safety of all direct reports
  • Provide technical and functional leadership for a matrixed team of electrical technologists, designers and engineers
  • Coordinate, train, manage and grow electrical design and analysis capabilities to meet current and future business requirements, including maintaining and growing external relationships with specialist contracted resources
  • Coordinate the matching and assignment of functional and contracted resources into integrated project teams to deliver engineering design and development projects
  • In concert with the chief electrical engineer, establish, communicate and maintain technical standards for the electrical function
  • Perform design reviews and provide technical oversight and governance, including conducting project gate reviews, technical audits and deliverable quality assurance
  • Assess, document, and communicate risks to both internal and external customers as well as identify mitigations or opportunities for improvement associated with the electrical elements of projects
  • Independently provide professional engineering work as well as contribute and collaborate with other technical and nontechnical personnel inside an integrated team environment
  • Support the capture and program management teams to win new business and initiate new projects and programs of work
  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in BC, ON or NS in good standing
  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience in the naval, marine or related industry
  • Proven leadership skills and 3+ years of experience directly managing and providing professional guidance to technical teams
  • Knowledge of naval, marine or related electrical engineering standards (for example, equipment development, installation development, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), hazardous areas, cable selection, termination and glanding, etc.)
  • Knowledge of naval, marine or related electrical power system design and maintenance;
  • Knowledge of systems engineering standards and methods for managing the technical integrity of complex assets using a SystemofSystems framework
  • Experience with development of low volume, custom electrical equipment (including modified Commercial-OffThe-Shelf (COTS) or Non-Developmental Items), from concept design through to manufacture, testing and inservice support would be considered an asset
  • Experience working in a shipyard or similar heavy industrial environment and knowledge of safe electrical work practices would be considered an asset
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
