    About the role

    Reports to: Drinking Water Program Manager

    Hourly Rate: $ 19.79

    About the Position:

    The Drinking Water Office Assistant (DWOA) will be primarily responsible for covering adverse reporting and Drinking Water Information System (DWIS) and Laboratory Results Management Application (LRMA) uploading for both Thunder Bay and Waterloo Hub.

    Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding the requirements of Ontario Regulation 248/03.
  • Monitor the Dashboard in GEL for any client threshold breaches.
  • Providing verbal and written notification as required by client regulatory bodies.
  • Responsible for daily uploading of parameters to DWIS and LRMA.
  • Provide assistance to Project Managers.
  • Notify Drinking Water Program Manager immediately of any drinking water policy violations or issues.
  • Use correct procedures in accordance with the established policies.
  • Maintain records in an organized manner for traceability.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading).
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with confident computer skills.
  • Strong keyboarding and data entry skills with minimal errors.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Organized, detail oriented and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a lab environment is considered an asset.
  • Physical Demands

  • Manual dexterity for repetitive tasks such as data entry.
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant odours.
  • Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and weekend work.
