Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.


Summary of responsibilities:


Reporting to the Manager, Child & Youth Mental Health Services, The Psychologist is responsible for the provision of comprehensive psychology services including assessment, testing, diagnosis, and treatment planning consultation for children, youth, and families.

The Psychologist works collaboratively with, and provides consultation support for, staff serving clients/families who are experiencing the most severe, complex, rare, or chronic/persistent diagnosable addiction, substance use, mental health and concurrent disorder issues that significantly impair functioning in most areas such as home, school/work, and in the community.

The Psychologist plays a role in supporting the ongoing development of the clinical model for this service and participates in program development.


Requirements of the job:


  • Doctorate from a CPA/APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program with a specialization in Child Psychology, as well as training and experience in clinical psychology
  • Registration or eligible for Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
  • Demonstrated experience and practice in administering and interpretation of psychological testing/assessments for children and youth
  • Primary therapeutic orientation is supported by evidence (e.g. CBT, DBT, IPT, EFT, MI etc.)
  • Experience in providing evidencebased psychological assessment and treatment (individual and group) to Children & Youth with Mental Health concerns and/or concurrent disorders
  • Function as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate professional integrity through adherence to College and hospital guidelines for the practice of psychology, including; adherence to the Canadian Code of Ethics for psychologists, adherence to College of Psychologists of Ontario guidelines for registration, professional practice, professional development, supervision, communications and documentation of client contact
  • Effective mentoring skills to support the clinical practice of other team members
  • Ability to communicate and liaise effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individual, groups, agencies and other professionals within an interdisciplinary environment in a diverse community
  • Ability to be organized, conscientious and thorough with information gathering, and in adherence to CAMHS policies on timely completion of documentation
  • Computer literacy (MS Office
  • Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
  • Valid Ontario driver's license with reliable access to own vehicle
  • Functional proficiency in English (oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing)
