Reporting to the President & Vice-Chancellor, the Director of Community Relations will be a dynamic individual responsible for the planning, organization, and coordination of all stakeholder and community engagement activities for the University.

This individual will be a leader in developing the direction for community relations as it pertains to all current and prospective stakeholders.

The portfolio involves creating various integrated strategies for areas such as university advancement, stakeholder and community relations, alumni relations, and government relations.


Responsibilities:


  • Implement a strategic plan to support the university's goals as they relate to community and stakeholder relations. This plan will include strategies to improve advancement, stakeholder and community relations, alumni relations, and government relations.
  • Serve as a primary contact for the university's community relations activities. This will include working with and responding to a complex stakeholder network, and fostering relationships that are crucial for CUE's success.
  • Liaise with other partners within the university to leverage community relations activities to advance the university's strategic and academic goals.
  • Work in close coordination with the Marketing and Communications department to advance and enhance the university's public relations and brand activities.
  • Advise and support the President, the university's executive team, and the Board of Governors on matters of community relations.
  • Direct and develop appropriate tactics and tools to monitor and measure results to ensure that preestablished goals in the community relations plan are achieved.
  • Manage and evaluate key highlevel events for the President that supports profile and reputation.
  • Drafts program and briefing notes for the President and other executives for formal special events
  • Serves as Budget Control Officer for Community Relations.
  • Supervise and lead the Community Relations team.

Requirements:


  • Minimum 57 years of experience in one or more areas of the portfolio advancement and fundraising, stakeholder relations, and/or government relations.
  • A successful track record of building and enhancing relationships and goals through community relations activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven leadership ability, and strong organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with a diplomatic approach to all constituencies, internal and external.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively as a team member with a variety of teams and stakeholder groups to advance the goals of the university.
  • Experience in budget development and control with excellent attention to detail is required.
  • Must be flexible, and able to travel to other locations, and related events outside normal business hours.
  • Sound judgment and decisionmaking capabilities and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are required.
