Resource Planner***
Code:MMOC / 23271**
Salary:$75,000 - $95,000**The Resource Planner will be responsible for the short as well as long-term scheduling and forecasting needs of our Production team.

Responsible for planning and reporting of manpower schedules for a large unionized workforce and assisting management with meeting corporate objectives.

The Resource Planner will ensure that we are able to deliver on time quality service to our customers at optimal cost by having the right number of manpower assigned on right work at the right time.


Your Tasks:


  • Forecast short and long term staffing needs by analyzing ongoing operations' throughput
  • Ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement regarding overtime assignment
  • Support Production Control team with work scheduling, planning and assignment activities
  • Monitor usage of employees across Functional Work Areas to determine manpower issues that may be obscured by shared resources
  • Identify highcost drivers in the schedule and rectify through schedule rework or adjustments
  • Take initiative in identifying schedule opportunities and risks and implementing solutions
  • Identify current and anticipated bottlenecks due to manpower, assessing potential solutions, and implementing an agreed upon solution.
  • Support the leadership team and perform any other duties as required or assigned
  • Liaison with Team Leaders to understand workforce capabilities and skills to plan better work alignment and discuss and analyze overtime trend data
  • Analyzing workforce and skill gaps, and developing a workforce planning action plan including monitoring progress and updating management
  • Working closely with HR and business leaders to integrate standardized workforce planning practices into the organization
  • Liaise with union representative to address employee concerns related to manpower/overtime
  • Monitor work assignments and Weekend Passover to ensure resources are utilized optimally to meet operational demand
  • Analyze vacation levels and overtime to ensure staff is adequately allocated
  • Utilize Capacity Forecast tool to determine level of staffing compared to operational needs, informing Production Control of potential shortfalls in resources
  • Review overtime plans for multiple departments and distribute weekly draft and final plans.

Our Requirements:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Operation System Windows
  • Proven experience with MS-Office, advanced knowledge of MS-Excel and MS-Word
  • Intermediate knowledge of Experience in SAP is an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge of payroll and scheduling software is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills including well developed conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Prioritization and time management skills
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills in a team environment.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and able to manage time and multitask to accomplish a variety of tasks, sometimes with conflicting priorities and timelines
  • Ability to effectively work with a significant amount of detail while maintaining perspective on broader objectives.
  • Team cooperation and respect is required.
  • Work well under pressure in a time sensitive environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work both independently, as well as contribute to a team environment.
  • High energy with solid planning skills
  • Ability to establish work priorities and perform while under tight deadlines
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Experience with database ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, MS Access)
  • Experience working in a unionized or regulatory environment an asset; working knowledge of IAMAW collective agreements a bonus.
  • Knowledge of scheduling/forecasting systems
  • Ability to maintain and monitor records effectively
  • Willingness to be flexible with scheduled working hours
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including well developed conflict resolution skills.
