Evergreen College is currently looking to hire a Hospitality Management Instructor who is passionate about teaching adults and has the ability to effectively teach the Hospitality Management curriculum here at our Toronto campus.
Have a strong handle on how to approach teaching adults from different cultural backgrounds, various levels of education and career experience.
Remain in-line with our campus culture of preparing employable graduates for the Canadian workplace environment.
Demonstrate an optimistic outlook towards newcomers and possible academic and/or interpersonal barriers.
Proactively identify and remedy weaknesses in students with support from the Evergreen team when required.
Support students in sourcing field placements (a requirement to graduate from the program).

Evening
Monday - Friday 530pm - 930 pm
Summary of Duties
- Instruct the class according to the curriculum and daily lesson plan.
- Ensure students are aware of and understand the lesson objectives and outcomes.
- Support students in improving their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing; various learning styles should be accommodated for optimal results.
- Prepare all required materials (equipment, materials, handouts, tests) prior to each lesson.
- Update students on their progress and provide constructive feedback if needed.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and professional development to students in a creative and inspirational style.
- Foster a safe, biasfree, and respectful environment on a daily basis; proactively address any classroom conflicts in a timely manner.
- Support students with finding a suitable field placement; sourcing and securing placement by the scheduled start date.
- Record and maintain accurate attendance and grades for all students; address lateness and absenteeism as per the college's compliance requirements.
Required Experience
- 2 years or more of industry experience OR 4 years of teaching experience
- Teaching/leadership experience is an asset.
Required Education and Skills
- Minimum of 2 years community college Hospitality Management Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management.
- Copy of resume.
- Copy of highest education degrees/diplomas.
- Able to provide 2 reference letters to verify the 24 months or more of employment in a vocational institute.
- Impeccable ability to communicate in writing and verbally in English.
- Solid organizational skills; exceptionally responsive and detailoriented.
- Independent and resourceful but willing to work in a collaborative manner.
- Strong computer, administrative and database management abilities.
Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 per week
Salary:
From $25.00 per hour
