    Description
  • Assist the VP of IRS in the division strategic planning process by developing the LiquorDivision strategy, business plan and objectives.
  • Oversee activities of individual store managers to ensure effective store operations.
  • Resolves diverse, specialized issues impacting the division and working closely with Teams to create efficiencies, improve processes and maximize business results.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, development, performance management, succession planning, and retention of Team Leaders, as well as team members specific to their store.
  • Responsible for the creation of divisional operating and capital budgets within guidance on the overall operational budget and reviews ongoing adherence within assigned area.
  • Responsible for the achievement of budgeted financial goals including sales, margins, expenses, EBITDA, employee productivity, inventory turns and overall contribution.
  • Actively seeks growth opportunities for the Co-op in the line of business (ex. new locations, services, products, that will promote sustainability of the business.
  • Responsible for driving cross functional projects with other departments and/or divisions.
  • Supports the VP of Integrated Retail Services in the development and execution of a Customer Experience Management (CEM) strategy for the Liquor Division. Develop a local, innovative, strategic Liquor Division marketing plan (annually) targeted at increasing market share, and track results (ongoing).
  • In collaboration with the VP of Integrated Retail Services, manages medium/high risks with high regulatory and financial impacts and an effect on the business.
  • Ensures compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, asset protection, brand standards, policies, procedures, legislation, and collective agreements.
  • Who you are:

    You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree with a preference for Commerce, Business Administration or Division Commodity.
  • 10 years of relevant retail experience, including 6-8 years of leadership experience (leading technical, professional, and/or management employees)
  • Must have Co-operative Retail System experience and preference for a strong knowledge of and experience in liquor. Preference for completion of a Co-op ADVANCE, Accelerated ADVANCE, or One-to-One Training Program.
  • Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2
  • Must successfully complete provincially required training/certification relating to the responsible service and/or sale of alcohol (ex. Serve it Right certificate)
  • Proficient with MS office software (. Excel, Word, Outlook, and other technology.
  • Recognized for providing strategic and operational leadership, including Proven ability to coach and develop others.
  • Knowledgeable of legislation and applicable laws pertaining to employment, safety, and commodity area(s).
  • Sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to control operational costs, maximize efficiencies, and improve sales and margin growth, including analyzing financial statements and preparing and managing budgets.
  • Technical and creative writing skills, for business plans, and AGM/Board Reports as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Promotes innovation, manages change, and is committed to improving the customer experience.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to diversity, inclusion, and developing cultural competency skill sets to promote a representative workforce.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs on occasion as needed.
  • Must be capable of operating different types of machinery and equipment such as forklift, pallet
