Job Summary


JOB SUMMARY:


As a senior contact for Queen's most generous and engaged philanthropic partners, the Principal Partnerships Liaison facilitates personalized, productive, mutually beneficial relationships between Queen's University and its top principal donors, each of whom has made transformational gifts to Queen's totalling $50 million or more.


Reporting to the Executive Director, Principal Gifts, the incumbent works in close collaboration with the Principal Gifts team, the Vice-Principal (Advancement) and the Associate Vice-Principal (Development) to create, implement and evaluate short and long term engagement and fundraising plans for this portfolio of principal donors to maximize long-term financial support for the institution.

The Principal Partnerships Liaison leads the highly personalized and meaningful engagement of a small portfolio of very high net worth principal donors by managing their communications, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.

A seasoned relationship builder, the incumbent nurtures and develops sustainable long-term relationships directly with the donor as well as between the donor, University leaders, and Advancement colleagues.

The Principal Partnerships Liaison also functions as the key connector to all areas of university Advancement, university administration, and faculties/schools/departments in support of the donors' engagement with the institution.

This position is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement within Canada.

This position requires some travel to Kingston as well as within and outside Canada and requires the incumbent to travel and work some evenings and weekends.


Job Description:


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Proactively nurtures and develops sustainable personal relationships with principal donors to build trust, provide a high level of personalized support and maximize their involvement with the university

This will include:

  • Planning, managing, and participating in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities in collaboration with Advancement staff and campus partners.
  • Building supportive relationships with members of the donors' families, foundations, and family offices as needed.
  • Developing plans that incorporate multiple constituents related to each principal donor, including family members and corporate/foundation associates.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for Queen's staff, academic leaders, and senior administrators seeking information about or having an interest in engaging with the assigned principal gift donors.
  • Managing and overseeing logistics, travel plans and briefings for all meetings, site visits or off campus meetings as applicable, in collaboration with Queen's senior and campus leadership, Advancement staff and program contacts.
  • Providing regular status reports to the Executive Director, Principal Gifts, AVP (Development) and Vice-Principal (Advancement). In consideration of progress to date, takes a lead role in identifying and implementing further opportunities and strategies that may have arisen to meet goals.
  • Leading the identification and advancement of new solicitation opportunities that are in alignment with the donors' interests and goals.
  • Develops and maintains an indepth knowledge of university activities, funding priorities and needs. Applies this knowledge in identifying the interests and needs of principal donors with the strategic needs of the university.
  • Works in conjunction with the Executive Director, Principal Gifts to develop and maintain principal gift solicitation strategies and gift opportunities. Develops shortterm and multiyear plans and strategies with precise deadlines, executes the plans, and negotiates as required to accomplish priorities and objectives.
Works with assigned strategy leaders and collaborating managers for each principal donor to advance donor strategies and engagement plans.

Works with the Associate Director, Principal Gifts to integrate plans and activities for assigned principal donors into those developed for all principal donors, particularly with relation to stewardship.
