This is a year-round role which works in conjunction with a summer position within the Construction, Maintenance, or Gardening Divisions.


Tasks and Responsibilities:


  • Snow contracts run from November 1
  • April 15 annually. This is an on call 24/7 role that requires ability to monitor weather, plan sleep accordingly, and provide service with some additional daytime support for all snow events
  • Schedule and lead a team of operators, shovelers, and salt truck drivers to complete snow removal operations on time and to a high level of quality and efficiency
  • Directly supervise crew leaders and crew members for winter operations including the preparation of daily work schedules and expedite workflow to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Ensure equipment and small tools are assigned to crews
  • Inspect properties following a snow event to ensure the required standard of service is being provided according to contractual requirements
  • Respond to service issues that are brought forward and develop procedures to eliminate customer complaints
  • Monitor safety at all sites including proper attire, use of personal protective equipment, and ensure the proper and safe operation of company equipment
  • Monitor and ensure the efficient and safe use of materials following Smart About Salt parameters and ensuring all materials are tracked and inventoried appropriately
  • Maintain morale among staff and actively promote teamwork
  • Communicate with coworkers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Monitor staff to ensure all sites are being cleared on a timely basis. Provide a report to Management at the end of each shift with where sites are at and any items remaining to be taken care of
  • Provide feedback on performance and report any necessary disciplinary action consistent with company policy and procedures to Landscape Service Manager
  • Paperwork management (time tracking, WPL App, etc.)
  • Identify equipment issues and problem solve with Equipment Manager and provide input on equipment needs

Qualifications:


  • The core competencies required for this position include Customer Service, Project Management, Leadership, Communication, and Problem Solving
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to provide training and instruction to others in the safe operation of all equipment used in winter maintenance
  • Excellent knowledge of the best snow maintenance practices
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and be capable of carrying up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to work in and be exposed to different weather conditions such as but not limited to freezing temperatures
