    The Manager, Finance will be part of Brookfield's Corporate team and will report into the Director, Finance. Located in our head office in Downtown Toronto, the Manager, Finance role is a highly visible position that provides a solid foundation and exposure to a progressive and dynamic career with a leading global asset management firm. The Manager, Finance will be actively involved in leading the financial reporting and analysis processes of Brookfield's corporate operations, and work with various internal stakeholders and teams to identify and implement key improvement opportunities. There is also opportunity to provide leadership and mentorship to a growing team of senior/corporate accountants and interns.

    Responsibilities:

    The responsibilities for this position would include, among other things:

  • Manage the consolidation and summarized financial results process for companies within the corporate segment on a quarterly and annual basis for internal management reporting and regulatory requirements
  • Lead the execution of complex technical accounting steps and issues, including the coordination with other business units and departments
  • Lead the monthly financial close cycles and identify opportunities to implement practical changes to drive improvements and efficiencies;
  • Review daily journal entries and period end accruals;
  • Manage the Finance team's responsibilities in shared service functions across treasury and accounts payable
  • Collaborate regularly with and respond to the business and finance inquiries from other Brookfield business groups and departments
  • Review the work of junior team members and provide mentorship to them;
  • Continuously look for efficiency in our processes, tools and reports and make suggestions to implement these into our framework
  • Lead special projects as assigned.
  • Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Four to six (4-6) years of progressive work experience in an accounting or auditing function
  • A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Experience with public company reporting requirements under IFRS
  • Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel skills
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to always support the team
  • Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, HFM and/or Workiva would be an asset
