We are an expanding ten doctor Veterinary practice with an amazing reputation in Barrie and beyond - some of our clients travel to us from as far as Sudbury Our team is actively involved in fundraising and working with The Global Alliance for Animals and People in Canada, Central America and the Caribbean.

We collect food for the Barrie Food Bank, and work with numerous rescue organizations.

Our awards include the 2013 International Hospital Design of the Year Award and runner-up for the prestigious Petplan Veterinary Excellence Awards.

We are registered as a Cat Friendly Practice and our staff are trained in Fear Free handling. We are also AAHA and CVO accredited and strive to provide high-quality care. Our team prides itself in providing outstanding care to our patients and clients.

We are looking for an amazing Assistant Hospital Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment where every day there is something new to learn and something fluffy to cuddle.


As the Assistant Hospital Manager at Allandale Veterinary Hospital, you will be an integral member of the veterinary hospital leadership team.

You will partner with the Hospital Manager (HM) and the Managing DVMs to run a smooth and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs, while creating a positive hospital culture that thrives on high quality patient care and top-notch customer service.

You bridge the gap between day-to-day hospital operations and NVA Canada.

Reporting to the Hospital Manager, you will support the daily operations of the hospital by providing exceptional people management, smooth operations, strategic planning & financials, and exceptional client services.


What you will do:


  • Assist the HM in actively managing team performance by setting clear goals and fostering a high performing team to ensure exceptional patient care.
  • Provide coaching and development to team members ensuring they have the necessary skills to provide exceptional service to patients.
  • Resolve client issues and escalations quickly and oversee client follow up communications and procedures, including reminders and call backs.
  • Partner with Hospital Manager to address staffing needs including hiring, training, reviewing and performance management of team members.
  • Review and submit vendor invoices utilizing Oracle.
  • Provide input and help manage hospital operations such as creating and maintaining hospital policy including CVO/Controlled Substances and Health and Safety compliance, monitoring computer systems to resolve issues, educating team members on hospital policies and procedures, and managing and fostering vendor relationships.
  • Work with the HM and Supervisors to facilitate employee onboarding, training and development, and annual performance reviews.
  • Review invoices, hospital processes, files and rectify any discrepancies.
  • Assists in a variety of month end duties including reconciling food orders, processing any charge accounts, reviewing PVL, posting month end as required.
  • Ensure payroll is completed and submitted for all hospital staff and assist the HM with DVM production payments.
  • Manage hospital inventory and control facility and administrative costs, continually driving revenue and managing costs to budget.
  • Performs other duties essential to the performance of the hospital as assigned.

It's a bonus if you have:

  • Experience working in the veterinarian or dental and healthcare industries, or retain and hospitality management
  • Experience with payroll and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with MS Suite, Ceridian Dayforce and PIMS software deemed advantageous
