Summary


Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the RFP and Contracting team to drive operational excellence throughout the full RFP process (pre-post RFP activities), train and develop the teams' contracting capabilities, and identify and implement process improvements.

A key focus area will be to build a high-performance team of 8 direct reports specializing in RFP and Contracting to help to deliver "best in class" support of BD's commercial vision and strategy.

This role will be responsible for leveraging, building, and maintaining a robust RFP Process and creating competencies for a disciplined contracting and proposal development process.

The Manager will also be a key member of the Operations Leadership team, working on identifying ways to improve the hand off processes between functions and commercial teams, and helping to drive the BD-Canada operations strategy.

In addition, the Manager shall act as an escalation point working with sales and marketing leadership to effectively determine prioritization of deliverables.


A critical focus on continuous improvement and operational execution will be required to meet the evolving business needs/challenges, while complying with legal and financial requirements.

Partnership and developing a roadmap with key stakeholders, increasing visibility and reporting, creating efficiencies/standardization, and team development will be priority.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive alignment of cross functional support for business strategy and tactical goals/plans including performance measurement to advance BD effectiveness and market position.
  • Revise and align the business against a RACI model for RFP strategy (preRFP to postRFP) to reinforce the best practice process.
  • Support commercial success by defining and driving contracting and proposal proficiency that meets business unit targets (revenue growth and profitability), in addition to the customer's needs.
  • Build relationships with legal counsel (internal and external) to ensure support is meeting business expectations to draft and execute corporate agreements, supply agreements and incentive proposals in a timely and customer focused manner.
  • Maintain familiarity with applicable contract laws, assess company impact and notify relevant parties (i.e., Law 17, competition act, etc.)
  • Maintain familiarity with financial obligations/limitations involved in capital/consumable business support models
  • Lead and build a high performing team through employee development, accountability, and mentoring.
  • Demonstrate and promote the company values and leadership behaviors.

Skills and Competencies

  • 510 Years' experience managing end to end RFP and Contrac
