POSITION PURPOSE:


Under the daily supervision of the Associate Director of Philanthropy, the Philanthropic Advisor plays an integral role in advancing high level relationships that will result in significant corporate, and individual donor support to YWCA Peterborough Haliburton.


The Philanthropic Advisor is responsible for strategically developing, managing and growing multiple donor portfolios to secure financial support to advance organizational mission and specific programs including; Major Gifts, Corporate Giving, Community Giving and Events.

The Philanthropic Advisor is also responsible for preparing, monitoring and adhering to budgets for the programs in order to meet or exceed annual objectives.


RESPONSIBLITIES:


Major & Corporate Giving

  • Manage a portfolio of 40 to 50 major gift & corporate donors with the capacity to make a gift of $5,000+.
  • Grow the Individual Major Giving portfolio and identify high value opportunities and donors.
  • Complete donor calls and visits to identify, cultivate, solicit, steward and provide ongoing relationship management to achieve Major Giving fundraising goals.
  • Guide the architecture of the Corporate Giving program to ensure 360 degree relationship to ensure the maximum investment in the YWCA including cause marketing.
  • Work collaboratively with the Philanthropy team to ensure best practices and adherence to the Donor Bill of Rights is attained.

Community Giving

  • Oversee all Community Giving initiatives and CRM Development as part of this portfolio.
  • Lead, develop, and successfully implement strategies that grow annual community giving with a focus on longterm sustainability through retention and acquisition.
  • Steward relationships with community supporters to strengthen and build connections and future revenue initiatives.
  • Monitor and research the giving landscape for new fundraising or engagement opportunities and industry best practices to grow the donor pipeline.

Event Management

  • Lead, plan, manage, implement and evaluate special events with support from Communications Manager and Development Assistant.
  • Ensure detailed event plans are in place including workback schedules.
  • Lead groups of volunteers in order to provide fulfilling experiences, enrich events and deliver on objectives.
  • Research and evaluate new ideas, concepts and eventbased fundraising initiatives in order to maintain a strong source of annual revenue.
  • Identify potential sponsorship opportunities and solicit and close all sponsorships.
  • Ensure that a proactive and meaningful sponsorship stewardship and recognition program is in place.
  • Work closely with Communications Manager and Development Assistant to achieve deliverables.

Budget Management

  • With the Associate Director of Philanthropy, prepare annual budgets including revenue and expense projections for all fundraising portfolios.
  • Set annual goals for revenue, maintaining an appropriate cost per dollar raised.
  • Utilize monthly financials in order to monitor and ensure adherence to approved budget.
  • Evaluate programs' effectiveness in order to make budget recommendations each year.
  • Meet or exceed financial targets each year.

Communications

  • Act as a spokesperson for eventrelated communications.
  • Work with Communications Manager to prepare event briefings for all projects.
  • Communicate with businesses, individuals, volunteers and donors to ensure strong loyalty to and support of cause.

Health and Safety

  • Know and comply with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the regulations.
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the YWCA requires to be used or worn and report any defect in any equipment or protective device that may endanger oneself or another worker.
  • Report any unsafe act or contravention of the OHSA or the regulations or the existence of any hazard.
  • Refrain from participating in and report unsafe acts such as using or operating any equipment, machine, device or work in a manner that may endanger self or others or from engaging in any prank, horseplay, contest or feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.
  • Refrain from operating any equipment/machinery without being given proper instruction and authority to do so; adhere to all safety signs.
  • Report all injuries and illnesses.
