Role:


  • The Technician
  • Survey is responsible to provide technical services and support, performing construction surveys (civil and engineering) and topographical surveys to determine the precise position of points, elevations, lines and areas on structures and lands; performing calculations, compiling data and preparing tables, to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of the Canal system and structures

Responsibilities:


  • Survey land or structures to determine exact location and measurement of points, lines, areas, contours and structures for inspection, maintenance or project purposes.
  • Conduct hydrographic survey (sounding) to determine channel depth for inspection, maintenance or project purposes.
  • Perform calculations, compile and interpret data related to surveys.
  • Draft plans, sketches, and diagrams (using AutoCAD).
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of equipment, tools, vehicles and workboats as required.
  • Create and maintain various reports using automated systems.

Experience and knowledge:


  • Minimum of two (2) years related practical surveying experience.
  • Knowledge of trigonometry, planimetry, topography, and surveying calculations.
  • Knowledge of applicable procedures, rules, regulations, standards and safe work practices with respect to performing duties.

Education:


  • College Diploma en Surveying and/or Engineering or equivalent

Certifications:


  • Eligible for certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) or l'Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec.
  • Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) driver's license and insurable driving record
