Our Team:

The Vale Smelter, located in Copper Cliff, is a critical operation in the production of Finished Nickel.

The plant is comprised of over a dozen Operating, Maintenance, and technical departments working together to process Nickel Concentrate to supply the Vale Refineries.


The Opportunity:


We are currently seeking a
Maintenance Scheduler to join our
Smelter Complex in
Sudbury, Ontario. This is a
permanent position.


As a
Maintenance Scheduler, you will be primarily accountable for Scheduling various disciplines at various locations within the Smelter Complex.


Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Work Monday to Friday, 8-hours day shift.
  • Adhere to maintenance business processes as outlined in Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) by using approved systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.), tools, and standards.
  • Execute the "Scheduling" element of the process for all types of work orders systematic and nonsystematic maintenance. This includes shutdown (PMP) and external resourcerelated work.
  • Coordinate and facilitate with the Planner to ensure all required planning/scheduling routines are followed.
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of the "work schedule" for completion by Required End Date.
  • Manage backlog to ensure work orders are planned and scheduled with an emphasis on safety and ready to be executed prior to the required end date as determined through the notification. Ensure work order user statuses are properly maintained throughout the lifecycle of the work order and closed with proper time confirmations completed.
  • Monitor KPIs and actively strive toward plant targets.
  • Coordinate contractor work/resources as required.
  • Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including superintendents, supervisors, other schedulers, planners, crew members, etc.

About You

Education:


  • Grade 12 completed or GED equivalency with equivalent experience is required.

Experience:


  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Work Management (Planning/Scheduling).
  • Experience with SAP or other computerbased maintenance management systems.
  • Heavy industrial maintenance experience would be an asset.

Skills:


  • Ability to prioritize assets maintenance to ensure plant reliability.
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay organized and chair meetings in person and remotely.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
