AGENCY SUMMARY


Women's Habitat of Etobicoke ("WHE") is a multi-service feminist organization supporting women-identified individuals and their dependents impacted by intimate partner and familial violence and poverty.

WHE provides shelter and services to self-identified women and their dependents who are survivors of violence.

Both the residential (opened in 1978) and outreach community services and programs (opened in 2006) offer a suite of trauma-informed VAW services to support self-identified women and their dependents.


JOB SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES

Desktop Support

  • Physical installation of new systems.
  • Act as level one support for troubleshooting of day to day IT requirements.
  • Troubleshoot software/hardware issues for staff workstations.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Philanthropy, Resources and Systems, provide ongoing maintenance of all workstations (e.g. patches, updates)
  • Maintain the configuration of workstations to ensure network security
  • In conjunction with the Director of Philanthropy, Resources and Systems, administer and support client control software
  • Configure new equipment and repair equipment to be deployed
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of infrastructure upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendorsupplied patches
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance of all workstations
  • Install operating system updates and upgrades
  • Maintain records of upgrades, updates, maintenance and repairs of each machine
  • Provide technical training to staff, of varying skill levels, on IT systems as they pertain to their respective job functions.

Server and Network Support

  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, as well as set new equipment with wireless access when needed.
  • Install and maintain networking cables as well as patch cables.
  • Install and diagnose network equipment, including network switches and Power over Ethernet (PoE) equipment.

Data Collection and Research

  • Work in collaboration with management to develop a process for data collection, audit and reporting.

General

  • Assist in the administration and management of the phone and security systems
  • Set up all mobile devices for client programs
  • Provide back end support to the WISH platform including supporting with generating stats and reports if needed.
  • Create and maintain documentation and a detailed understanding of all computer issues
  • Respond to routine Information Technology enquiries from staff
  • In conjunction with the Director of Philanthropy, Resources and Systems, create processes and procedures for hardware maintenance, distribution, updates, usage and returns.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Philanthropy, Resources and Systems, create a training plan for individual users and generic topics like cybersecurity.
  • Assist in developing, implementing and ensuring adherence to WHE IT policies and procedures
  • Ensure the Health and Safety Guidelines are followed in accordance with the policies and procedures of WHE
  • Assist in preparing the IT budget, updating projections as required and monitoring the budget throughout the year, as required
  • In the absence of the Director of Philanthropy, Resource and Systems act as backup for the IT portfolio including oncall emergencies
  • Any other duties/special projects as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy, Resource and Systems (e.g. migrating systems)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Indepth knowledge of the computer technology field, normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in computer science or a related field and experience relevant to the current topologies in use at the WHE
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as IT Support
  • 3 to 5 years of experience diagnosing a network environment.
  • Indepth knowledge and understanding of physical and wireless networking, protocols, security and associated hardware
  • Knowledge of Windows client OSes, Microsoft Office Suites
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people who have a variety of technical skill and comfort levels
  • Strong, creative problem solving and logístical skills are critical to this position
  • Strong communications skills: verbal and written
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
